Excellent outcomes for Kings Oxford's Art graduates

This year's leavers at Kings Oxford included a host of students who studied Art either as part of their A-level or Advanced Level Foundation programme, or as a standalone foundation course.

Here, Art teacher Jo Chance shares some of the students' excellent university destinations, and the exciting degree courses that they are now beginning.

A-level
This year Kings Oxford had two AS students, Atlasi Sharirt Jafari and Xinyue Cheng, and one A2 student - Hailun Pang. We were very proud of their excellent progress and hard work, which produced some very exciting work. Their work was challenging both in terms of subject matter, skills and the techniques used. The standard of their workbooks considerably improved on previous years, particularly in terms of their reflective layout and evaluative comments. Hailun Pang was accepted onto all of the top art and design schools in the country for animation and finally chose to attend the University of Arts Bournemouth – Animation Production. We wish her every success at university.

Art Foundation
The Oxford 2015/16 Art Foundation year has been a very successful year for the three September starter students and two January starters students. Their pathways covered Fashion Design, Architecture, and Graphic Communication. The work created on both courses improved exponentially through the year culminating in very successful final shows for the Final Major Project. The work illustrated how ambitious and sophisticated our students' thinking, documentation and expertise in skills had become over the year. Our Architecture students, Tao Shi and Mark Chin, gained access to the prestigious Bartlett School of Architecture London and Liverpool University. Our Graphic Communications student Minjin Cho will be studying at LCC (London School of Communication).

One of our January Fashion students – Nagima Tleupova is going on to study Fashion Styling at Middlesex University London. Hong Xizhe has deferred for a year to focus on his English and his Ielts score and we wish him good luck with this.

We have greatly enjoyed teaching these students and wish them every success in their chosen art pathways at university.

Advanced Level Foundation
This year there were eight enthusiastic students on the Advanced Art Foundation course, all of them achieved Distinction in their Final Exam 2, they worked consistently hard throughout the year. Well done to all.

Two students Sina Jebraeili and Rodrigo Mostaccero are going on to study Architecture at Oxford Brookes University. Keer Lin, studying Graphic design, has a place at Middlesex University and Nahoko Kubara is heading to Instituto Marangoni School of Fashion London. The remaining students all have places at British universities studying a wide range of subjects; Sofia Calvino Rodriguez is studying Criminology and Psychology at Southampton, Aidai Ergshova International Relations (with a years study abroad) at the University of Exeter, Songhee Ko Media and communications at Goldsmiths, and Bo Wang is studying Language, Culture and Communications at the University of Warwick.

We wish them all every success.
